Lots of new makers set their PLA temperature and forget it. But print quality lives or dies by just a few degrees.
Arkforge PLA is engineered to operate within 190 °C‑230 °C. The practical sweet spot for most projects lands between 195‑210 °C, while higher values up to 230 °C suit faster‑print scenarios.
Go too cold (under 190 °C):
- Under‑extrusion, thin layers, weak layer adhesion
- Filament does not melt fully, raising clog risk
Go too hot (over 230 °C):
- Severe stringing and oozing
- Droopy details, melted fine features
- More fumes and faster nozzle wear
A fast test you can run today:
- Print a simple temperature tower from 190 °C to 230 °C
- Look for clean perimeters, minimal strings, and solid layers
- Lock in the temperature that looks best for your spool
Small tip: Open‑air printers often need +5 °C compared to enclosed machines. Humid weather also means you may bump 3‑5 degrees to push moisture out.
