Why 190‑230°C Is the Sweet Spot for PLA Printing

Lots of new makers set their PLA temperature and forget it. But print quality lives or dies by just a few degrees.

Arkforge PLA is engineered to operate within 190 °C‑230 °C. The practical sweet spot for most projects lands between 195‑210 °C, while higher values up to 230 °C suit faster‑print scenarios.

Go too cold (under 190 °C):

  • Under‑extrusion, thin layers, weak layer adhesion
  • Filament does not melt fully, raising clog risk

Go too hot (over 230 °C):

  • Severe stringing and oozing
  • Droopy details, melted fine features
  • More fumes and faster nozzle wear

A fast test you can run today:

  1. Print a simple temperature tower from 190 °C to 230 °C
  2. Look for clean perimeters, minimal strings, and solid layers
  3. Lock in the temperature that looks best for your spool

Small tip: Open‑air printers often need +5 °C compared to enclosed machines. Humid weather also means you may bump 3‑5 degrees to push moisture out.
